RANCHI: Over 1.89 lakh students appeared in the
Teachers Eligibility Test (
TET) conducted by the Jharkhand Academic Council across the state on Friday. There were apprehensions as
TET results were cancelled twice before.
With a total of 216 centres, the examination was conducted in seven districts of the state. According to the secretary of JAC Sunil Kumar Rai, the examinations were conducted in two phases. While the first session started from 11:30 am, the second session began at 3 in the afternoon. "The examinations were conducted smoothly and we were prepared to handle any sort of eventuality.
We had already instructed the administration to ensure proper security measures and there was fool-proof security at all the centres," Rai added.
He said exams to be held in 2011 were cancelled by the high court due to some irregularities in conducting the exams. "All candidates with 60 per cent marks will be eligible for interview, which will be conducted by the human resource department," said Rai.
However, the cutoff percentage for the SC/ST candidates is 52%. The examination was conducted at around 63 centres in the capital. The tests were conducted by the JAC board in six other districts - Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Deoghar, Palamu and Hazaribag.
The first phase of examination was held for selection of primary teachers from Class I to V, while the second phase was for that of secondary teachers from Class VI to VIII. The question papers were fully objective. During the one-and-a-half hour test, nearly 81,000 and 1.08 lakh candidates appeared in the first and second sittings respectively.Fear prevailed among students as the TET results have been cancelled twice after exams were conducted due to various reasons. I wish this time everything is alright and the results are out on time."
Echoing the same, another student, Ramesh said, "My fingers are crossed and I hope to obtain good marks. The questions were objective and uncomplicated. I hope this time results are not cancelled again."
There was information about question paper leak in Dhanbad district, but the question papers were found to be fake after investigation.
