JTETJharkhand TET   : Teachers' eligibility test from April 26: Jharkhand Academic Council

RANCHI: The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) on Saturday announced that the teachers' eligibility test (TET) will be held on April 26 in two shifts.

JAC chairperson Anand Bhushan said, "The admit cards can be downloaded from the JAC website from April 2." The test will be conducted to recruit 18,000 primary and secondary teachers in the state.

The aspirants are happy that the TET will finally be held but they want a domicile policy to be framed to ensure that only the candidates from the state get selected. needed to be made before the examination is conducted.

Manoj Kumar, a candidate said, "The new regulations are not favourable for the residents of Jharkhand. According to the rules, just clearing the TET will not make one eligible to for a teacher's job. The marks obtained by the candidates in matriculation, intermediate and graduation examinations will also be taken into consideration," he added.

If the rule is implemented, it will increase the probability of candidates from other states to get recruited in the TET as the condition of higher education in Jharkhand is not good and students do not score much here, said Kumar. "This is why we have been demanding a domicile policy so that at least candidates from Jharkhand will be given priority in the recruitment process."

Some TET aspirants have threatened that if their demand for framing a domicile policy is not met, they will boycott the examination. Arvind Pandey, an aspirant said, "If our demands are not fulfilled, we will protest against the examination and make sure that it is not held. After all, it (TET) is about the future of people of Jharkhand."
